The Rings

20 06 2007

RingsRings are Crossfit staples. They allow you to do a variety of exercises (namely pull-ups, push-ups and dips) with a greater degree of difficulty that requires a whole other level of upper body strength, while still just using your body weight. Kind of like yoga, where doing these movements develops strength that allows you greater control over your body, rings are great to throw into the mix, in increasing functionality. We bought these at IKEA for $15.00 in the kids section. They are good for at least 250 lbs (just make sure whatever you attach them to is good for at least 250 lbs;)

I just found this site, and it’s great. I’m currently going through the struggles of building a gym and getting a bit impatient trying to find the great deals on Craigslist.

I searched for those rings on the Ikea website but couldn’t find anything. Was there a specific name that it had? I’m just looking for some specifics so I don’t have a wasted trip to Ikea. That’s a great find.

Hey Tony, glad you’re enjoying the site and getting something out of it. The rings were called “EKORRE”. I just checked it out on the Ikea site and didn’t see them there. Maybe a call in with the name will make it easier. And yeah, there are some things that are just too hard to find on Craigslist, like the rings, which is why we bought those new. Finding them at Ikea, though, saved us a bit a money from having to buy the professional gymnast rings.

Hope that’s of some help:)

P.S. After finding the info pamphlet, while looking for the name, I double checked the weight rating. It says “at least 250 lbs”. So it should hold more. I’ve edited it in the above post.

Yeah, I ended up calling them and attempted to explain why a grown man was looking for rings in the kids section. She had mentioned that it would support 250lbs or so. How long are they if you don’t mind me asking? Ikea didn’t know and they’re out of stock for about a week or two.

Hahahaha……that’s awesome:) Once it’s all rigged up, it’s about 5 1/2 ft long. Because our rings are not permanently affixed, we use climbing carabiners (they’re about $5 each) for easy set up.

All the best,
